Well, I guess this is where our summer madness starts! It's been all lovely and quite in the
world of Superhero, a break from travelling, time at home, sleeping in our own beds,
sitting on our own toilets! Heaven. But, that's all about to end...... for now, the time has
come again to mount the mighty steed ( well, the Honda shuttle! ) load up the lute and
mandalin, kiss the wench goodbye and fly like the wind across the border into the land of
the midgets and elfs... what am I talking about!! We're starting touring again!

This is our last day at home before we start the run around. Tommorow we fly to
Switzerland for the fabulous BIG BOSS FESTIVAL. We are headlining the Saturday night

summer festivals and then, in September it's the big one, our UK tour, it's going to be fun!
Can't wait.

This week, we shot a video, learnt a new song, watched a LOT of Football and made some
headway in our quest for the holy grail, well, we may have found a manager and booker in
the States!

Review – Superhero – Fake lunar landing – 2005 - Fierce

From the vocals and keys intro of ‘Secret life of trees’ to the anthem-like ‘Stand up’, Superhero want to resonate truth. In an age where people are suspicious of truth Tim Cheshire (vocals and guitars) reminds us in a number of tracks that God’s word speaks today –

“truth is precious,
it sets us free,
leads us to hope and faith
something real”

The lyrics of ‘Secret life of trees’ further this understanding of truth –

“their voices are calling,
are calling a warning,
the hope of all mankind
is written in these lines”

The music resembles the sounds of bands such as Athlete, Feeder and The Foo Fighters. .

The CD is well produced by Alan Branch (Blur, Primal Scream, Bjork), and the album has many layers to it, requiring the listener to take their time in listening. On the first play you will hear more instantaneous tracks such as the title track ‘Fake Lunar Landing’, ‘Goodbye’ and ‘Stand up’.

After a number of plays, tracks such as ‘Perfect heart’ and ‘Don’t let this day escape’ become more apparent. ‘Fake lunar landing’ is a truth-based offering worth chewing on, unlike some of the fluffy pop on offer these days.

Reviewed by Steve Best 9/10 - Cross Rhythms

There's more to Tim Cheshire and his new set of Superhero rockers than just heads-down riffola, as opening track "Secret Life of Trees" will ably demonstrate. It's a brave move to put this brooding slow-burner at the start of the album, but one which I believe pays off. We're back on more familiar territory with "Big God Theory" and some muscular yet sympathetic and spacious production from Alan Branch. There are so many dimensions to this record... "Perfect Heart" is a truly beautiful acoustic ballad with vibes and subtle violin from Nikki Frey to compliment Tim Cheshire's vocal tour de force. With some dates coming up soon which will further enhance Glasgow's finest as a live band of note, things are looking very rosy for the new look Superhero, and this album hits all the right buttons.

Premier

It’s been three years since Superhero’s debut album and after hundreds of gigs, high profile support slots, personnel changes and a lot of hard work, the Glasgow band return with an incredible follow-up. Teaming again with producer Alan Branch (Primal Scream, Blur, Bjork), the album sees the band developing their edgy melodic rock approach with ten songs that feature layered guitars and plenty of atmosphere. Highlights include the moody Goodbye and the slow build of Secret Life Trees, which opens the album. The anthemic Big God Theory and the brilliant title track are both superb and Is This The End Of Everything is another brilliant rocker. Superb stuff!

A Review of the new Superhero album by Helen Burnley from the Wirral

After winning a promo copy of Superheros new album, Fake Lunar Landing, I got pretty excited, and couldn’t wait to hear it, and it certainly lived up to, and exceeded my expectations!

Here are my thoughts on some of the stand out tracks:

“Secret life of trees”
This is one of my personal favourites. The vocals at the start are great, before the drums and guitars build up into something pretty special. The vocals and lyrics are strong, and the song comes together well.

“Big God theory”
This is an awesome song, summing up certainly my view of this world, how absolutely awesome it is, and how our big God must have made it. I had the chorus in my head for ages after hearing it and it made we want to jump around a fair bit.

“Fake lunar landing”
This song is the title track and is anotherof my favourites. It felt slightly surreal to me, with the lyrics “it’s just another fake lunar landing, another leap backwards for mankind” but the song is about truth and makes a lot of sense, the music is strong and the ending goes out in style.

Last, but certainly not least, “Stand up” is a great way to finish the album. If I could only hear one live, this would be it! You can pick up the lyrics quickly, and the message put across is good – yeah, you’re Christians, but what you gonna do about it? The answers in there, “stand up, get on your feet and take up your cross its time to wake up and let your voice be heard!”.

To sum up, I love the songs on Fake Lunar Landing, and I think the messages being put across are awesome, and are conveyed well. A great follow-up to their debut album.

If you would like to pre-order a pre-release signed copy then click on the link at the top of this page for details.

Hope to see you when we are out and about on our winter tour which starts on 18th November in Peterborough.

Thanks peeps.

Hello again,

Thanks to everyone at BIG BOSS FESTIVAL in Switzerland. You were amazing to play to. 8 people got saved on the night, God really moved and it felt awesome.

Definitely one of the best crowds we have played to.

We had a few drama's over the weekend. Mike forgot his passport on the way there, which made getting to the airport a bit fruity!!

Tim lost his passport in Switzerland! Someone found it and rushed it over to Basel airport 2 minutes before check in closed. But it all worked out in the end.

We sold all of our cd's which was nice.

We got to play and hang out with John Schlitt from Petra, what a total legend.

OK, next up is Glasgow, on Friday 1st July, at Newton Mearns Baptist, 7.30pm start 3 bands. Pay on the door.

Then it's up to Inverness for JesusFest. We are on stage at 4pm, it's in the town centre.

New t shirts on the way.

TC.

We fly to Switzerland on Friday, never played there before so really looking forward to it.

Just been confirmed for CreationFest on the Friday night.

Hi,

Hope you all had a satisfactory valentine experience!

We were stuck on a ferry in the middle of the Irish sea with Rooster, which was nice, we were obviously tempted to try and snog them as they are SOOOOO gorgeuos, but we resisted, and just laughed at them instead.

Having said that, the gigs in Ireland were 2 of the most enjoyable we have done over there.

First up was Dublin, at the Core, a valentine ball, very cool, thanks to Jonny and his team.

Next was Limerick, a total sell out, packed to the ceiling with sweaty walls! Thanks to everyone who came out, thanks to everyone who worked with us, thanks to everyone who bought a poster, ( we forgot our merch! except the posters ), you helped us get enough euros together for the petrol back to Belfast.

It was great to hear people singing the new songs, amazing feeling.

You are the generation that will Stand up, stand together and change the world.

See you in Leicester.

Really looking forward to 2005. We meet with our label bosses in Jan to discuss the new record, which is coming on great, well writting the songs anyway, we start recording in Feb, on the Isle of Mull, freezing!

An American record label has asked if they can use a track from the Superhero album for their next cd release, which will feature bands that they think will be big in the USA during 2005. How cool is that.

You can still buy the Superhero album for a staggering £5, so get your order in on the site. www.superhero.org.uk

Our music will be available on itunes in the new year as well as another 12 music download sites, more news to follow.

Next year, we have some amazing tours happening, we will keep you posted on that.

Rest of the year I will be locked away, writing the rest of the new record, if anyone wants to leave a message on the message board to help me keep going through the long winter days that would be nice!

Remember to buy an album from the site for Christmas. There is a crazt offer on the site at the moment.

Later,

We have put some pics on the site. Click here to take a look.

The next tour date is this Friday at the Ark in AYR.

Inbetween gigs, work on the new album is going great. I have written about 8 new songs and want to write another 10 by the end of the year. We will choose 11 and record them in Feb 2005, we want to release it in April/May.

We played 3 new songs over the weekend, "Fake Lunar Landing" "Time will Tell" and "Stand Up" which seemed to go down well.

If you were at a gig and heard the new songs, let us know what you thought.

Peace,

TC

Well, good things happening in the world of Superhero.

Well done Mike ( our new drummer with MASSIVE HAIR! ) He played a great first gig at Dundee Uni.

We are putting our set together for the Winter Tour, we'll play some new songs during the tour.

We have been asked to submit a song for use in an American Advert for AXE, it's like Lynx in the UK. Nice.

Anyone who makes a purchase from our on-line shop between now and the end of the tour will receive a free limited addition cd, featuring 7 great bands.

We are back in Dundee this Thursday 23rd, at Fat Sams. It is a virtual sell out, just a few tickets left I think. Tickets from Grouchos in Dundee.

We are playing at Fusion in Maidstone, Kent this Saturday 25th.

We have almost finalized the dates for our Winter Tour. We will let you know the dates as soon as they are all in.

20.7.04

Hey everybody.

Sorry, we missed a week, just a bit busy and could not get access to the site.

Anyway, here is our news:

First off, thanks to everyone at Breakout for being the best crowd of the year. We really enjoyed being at the festival and getting to meet so many great people. Oh, and thanks for the pegs!! We take them everywhere with us!

Thanks also to the people in Shrewsbury.

We have just got back from a short trip to Sweden. It's the bands third time there but a new festival for us.

It took over 24 hours to get there and 24 hours to get back, but it was worth it, because you were great to play to and we love your country. Thanks for having us.

Actually, for the first time ever in the bands history we played in 2 different countries on the same day! We played at 1am on Sat morn in Sweden and then at 9pm in Farnbrough, the same day. It was the most knackering few days but strangely enjoyable.

Gig tommorow at the Carberry Festival in Edinburgh - 9.30pm.

Remember to check out our on-line shop for some crazy deals.

Love you all,

TC.

6.7.04

Well it's here again. The festival season can be a bit gruelling, lots of travelling, but it's my favourite time of year.

We get catch up with mates in other bands and see people that we don't get to see very often.

Last Saturday was the first summer festival of the year for us. NEW EDEN. It was great, really enjoyed it. The stages were right on the seafront in Torquay. We played to around 1000 people and were the last band on before the nights special guest Shane from BOYZONE! We spoke to him after the show and he was really nice.

This week it's:

> Heart & Soul on WEDNESDAY at 8.30pm in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow
> Shrewsbury on FRIDAY
> Breakout in BLACKPOOL Winter Gardens on Saturday

Then we are off to SWEDEN for some festivals there. Check the site for details.

THIS MONTHS CRAZY OFFER : Buy 1 get one FREE on our new album! It's crazy, and it's for this month only.

See you soon.

Later.

22-06-04

This week Superhero hope to secure a distribution deal in Japan with HMV and TOWER RECORDS. The band also continue to negotiate a deal for the USA.

This is great news for the guys and their desire to reach people across the globe with their message of hope.

Superhero's new album is already selling in 14 different countries around the world, as far away as New Zealand and Africa.

Canada is the next country due to release this great album and the band hope to go over for a short tour soon.

If you would like to sample some of the songs, feel free to take a listen at the on-line shop.

NEXT GIG - Sat 26th in Leicester @ TRANSFUSION. Check out the gigs page for more details.

Later.

10-06-04

This weekend was interesting!

The 4 gigs were great, thanks to everyone who came out and to everyone who signed up to compassion.

We did break down on the M5 near Exeter and had to get a tow back to Glasgow with a breakdown service guy who liked radio 2 !! A LOT.

It's good to be back in Glasgow and we will try and get the bus fixed for next w/e.

This next w/e sees the last 2 gigs of our Spring tour. Bolton on Friday and Dumfries on Saturday.

Hope you can get out to see us play at one of these dates.

25-05-04

Thanks to everyone who came out to the Arches gig on Tuesday and everyone who came to Wetherby High School on Friday. Both gigs rocked.

Next gigs are: 4th June DISS - 5th June CHELTENHAM - 6th June EXETER.

18-05-04

We want to say thanks to everyone who came to Belfast and Glasgow for the gigs with Rebecca St James.

Both gigs were packed and we had a great time, made some new friends and got time to hang out with old friends in Belfast and Glasgow.

This TUESDAY at the ARCHES on ARGYLE ST in GLASGOW, Superhero are playing at 8.30 pm. We are calling on all Superhero fans to come out to this gig, it is a great venue and will be a great night.

See you soon

11-05-04

Superhero have been overwhelmed with the response to Compassion on their tour so far. Dozens of people have signed up to sponsor a child with hundreds more taking information away from the gigs.

Tim Cheshire says " Compassion is something we all care about deeply, and seeing people sponsoring children after gigs has been great."

The band are off to Belfast on Thursday, to support Rebecca St James at Whitewell Metropolitan Tabernacle, and then on Friday they will be performing in their home church in Glasgow, also with Rebecca St James.

gordy bids you fairwell

well, it had to happen at some point in my life, so it may as well be now.

yup, i'm hanging up my gloves (strings) after 4.73 years of gruelling service to the great cause., hehe

ah, but seriously, it's been a great time and i'm very proud to be associated with superhero. it's great to know that there are bands out there that make great music and actually have something positive to say to their fans. i'm sure superhero will reach that stage pretty soon ;-)

see ya guys. keep rockin' face!

Delirious? / Superhero UK Tour - Part 2

Hey guys. I can't believe it's over, but it is. What an amazing time away, yeah!

Birmingham Carling Academy was great, if not a little different from the other shows, largely due to the fact that Pete and Tim did a rockin' wee acoustic set, which was reported by many of yous guys as rather good.

Then there was the huge warehouse-type venue of The Vine in Dunfermline. Funky cafe! Nice to see so many familiar faces from the central belt. Again, great gig with over 1000 in attendance. Thanks to all at The Vine for looking after the bands so well.

And what better way to end a tour with a 3500 strong sell out gig at what I can only describe as the most enormous building I have ever seen. Liverpool Cathedral both inside and out evokes images from the Lord of the Rings trilogy - magnificent. The atmosphere in the place was electric, heightened still further by the haunting spotlights which caused the walls and ceiling of the sactuary to glow amber.

Check out the crowd shots on the pics page. Slightly hazy but they give you an idea of what it was like. Hey, and get this. This was the first time that a rock concert had been held here since 1962 - don't know who it was, though.

Delirious? / Superhero UK Tour - Part 1

Hi, just a quick report on the first part of the tour, which went absolutely great.

It started with a capacity crowd and a great atmosphere at The Junction in Cambridge. Then we went on to Carling Academy in Bristol and finally to Roadmender, Northampton. All three gigs were absolutuey amazing with crowd sizes from about 500 - 800 each night. Delirious? headlined each night and had the crowds rockin' as usual - they even threw in some Cutting Edge golden oldies. Yeah!

Cheers to all of you who supported Superhero by buying our album - hope you like it. And it was cool to chat to so many of you at the merch table, and thanks to A. Wilkin for the snaps.

11,116 miles from home...

As excitement spreads across Europe for the new album, raving reports are also coming in from South Africa, Canada, USA. Now eyebrows are being raised on the other side of the planet as Superhero storm the charts and gain national media airplay.

The debut self-titled album made No. 2 in the best seller of Modern Rock under the Parachute Music Distribution charts for September 2003. A good result, wouldn't you agree?

The album also recently made Life FM radio station 'Album of the Week'. Album Of The Week is a limited offer to listeners involving a value added package from The CD Store/Planet Jack.com stores nation-wide (mainstream music retail chain).

Announcers throughout the day adlib liners for the album of the week containing information on the artist and album including where to purchase it and how to win it. The album is given away across all Life FM's week-day shows.

Through the week it rotates on a 'promo cart' and involves three interview's in Breakfast with 'Jon' at The CD Store who discusses the album and the exclusive in-store added-value offer. Click here to download an mp3 of the radio ad. It's way cool.

You can also see a list of reviews for the single "Stars" if you click on here.
